Exploring the CMDB
The Configuration Management Database (CMDB) is the central repository for all discovered infrastructure in NopeSight. This guide walks you through exploring configuration items (CIs), using filters, and viewing detailed information about your assets.
Accessing the CI List
- From the left sidebar, click on CMDB
- Select CI List from the expanded menu
You will see the main Configuration Items page displaying all discovered assets in your environment.

Understanding the Interface
The CI List interface consists of three main areas:
Header Section
- Configuration Items title with the total count of CIs
- Export to CSV button - download the current filtered list
- Column Customization button - show/hide and reorder columns
- + New CI button - manually create a new configuration item
Filter Sidebar (Left Panel)
The filter sidebar provides powerful filtering capabilities to narrow down your CI list.
CI Table (Main Area)
Displays all configuration items matching your current filters with sortable columns.
Using Filters
The filter sidebar on the left allows you to quickly find specific configuration items.

Available Filters
Search Box
- Free-text search across CI name, serial number, IP address, and other fields
- Results update automatically as you type
CI Types
Filter by the type of configuration item:
- All Types - Show all CIs
- Server - Physical and virtual servers
- ESX Server - VMware ESX hosts
- Network - Network devices (routers, switches)
- Storage - Storage arrays and devices
- Business Service - Logical business services
- VCenter Datacenter - VMware datacenters
- Workstation - End-user devices (laptops, desktops)
- VMWare VCenter - VMware vCenter servers
- VCenter Cluster - VMware clusters
- Monitor - Display monitors
Each type shows a count of matching items.
Status
Filter by operational status:
- All Statuses - Show all
- Active (green) - Currently operational
- Inactive (red) - Not in use
- Maintenance (orange) - Under maintenance
External Source
Filter by integration status:
- All - Show all CIs
- Linked to Xurrent - CIs synced with external ITSM
- Not Linked - CIs not linked to external systems
Manufacturer
Filter by hardware manufacturer (e.g., HP, Dell Inc., Lenovo, VMware)
Table Features
Sorting
Click on any column header to sort the table by that column. Click again to reverse the sort order.
Pagination
Use the pagination controls at the bottom of the table to:
- Navigate between pages
- Change rows per page (10, 25, 50, 100)
Column Customization
Click the column icon in the header to:
- Show or hide specific columns
- Reorder columns by dragging
- Reset to default layout
Quick Actions
Hover over any row to reveal action buttons:
- View - Open CI details
- Edit - Modify CI properties
- Delete - Remove CI from CMDB
